Introduction

Becoming a Manager for the first time can be daunting. It is a huge step involving major changes e.g. performance is defined by what his/her team can deliver, not just him or herself anymore.
Often, new managers do not possess the skills and knowledge to become an effective manager when appointed. They learn through trial and error that can be costly, or by observing what other managers do, which can be a problem too if they follow an ineffective one.
